Clothesline Timeline

Zacs life so far on a timeline

Zacs life so far on a timeline

We don't homeschool, but as a school project in 1st grade my son had to make a timeline depicting his life so far and what he sees for his future.

He searched through photos we have on our computer and printed them on regular paper then cut them out and pasted them on cut outs of socks, pants and shirts.

He wrote the date and something about the photo on each then attached them to a length of twine with clothespins. He had to present it to his class and discuss it.

He loved looking through the pictures and remembering the times that were important to him or that stood out in his memory. He also enjoyed putting them in order for the timeline. The final project was longer than the photo above can show but you get the idea. That final "sock" has a photo of the car he would like to own in the future.

The plan is to hang this on his bedroom wall and continue going around the room with it as time passes.

Using a Timeline
by: Estela

Thank you Alicia for sharing your timeline with us. It enables kids to use technology to create it and to enhance their mathematics understanding. Additionally, it is very creative.
