Homeschool Writing with Kindness

by Marcy DiCarlo
(Chester, NH)

My two sons, ages 6 and 7 , are homeschooled. I'm finding it very difficult to get them to write anything!

I  came up with "elfing" someone over the holidays and they absolutely loved it:)

They chose a few friends in the neighborhood, wrapped up little trinkets I had bought at the dollar store and left notes (writing  assignments) to their friends giving them instructions on how they were "elfed". They wrote little letters about every other day with clues of who they were and near Christmas they revealed themselves with a nice letter to their friends.

They had so much fun and never realized they were doing their writing work:)  They loved the fact that they were able to run outside and hide their presents while the other kids were at school:)

What a lovely idea Marcy. It would make a great way to do random acts of kindness with your children. As well as a great writing project.

Many thanks for sharing your idea.
Best wishes, Julie.
