Looking for time lapse software for your educational homeschooling project? There are several manufacturers making this type of program - many of which offer a free trial. Here are some for both Windows and Mac.
HandyAvi comes with a 10 day trial (perfect for a short homeschooling project). This is the program we used. It was very easy to set up. You have the ability to set the time delay between photographs, and the speed of playback. It automatically makes the film that you can view within the software, or using another video viewer. It includes some other nice features including the ability to make animations.
Flix also looks like a very easy to use program. The trial version places a watermark over your finished film, but at only $10 to buy it isn't going to break the bank.
Stop Motion Pro is another trial version that places a watermark over your finished film. This one however has a special cut down Junior version that they say is ideal for educators (and homeschooling!).
Software for Macs
Gawker is an application for Mac OS X that creates time-lapse movies using a webcam. And it's free!
I hope this list of software gets you started on a great homeschooling project. Why not try making a stop motion animation next?
