Homeschool Writing Project Idea

by Laticia
(Texas)

Hello,

We like to allow the kids to choose something they are interested in. Last time, we did music for our daughter, and Army for our son. We choose 10 different words, that went with the subject.

For instance, with music, we choose words like guitar, soprano, solo and saxophone. (we choose 10 different words altogether).

  • Then they wrote them as spelling words, on one day.

  • The next day, definitions out of the dictionary.

  • The third day, we search the internet for information about these words.

  • The fourth day, we hand write a story about the subject and words.

  • On the fifth day, they type it into the computer and correct their final copy.

  • With this one project, they work on spelling, handwriting, critical thinking, research, typing and computer skills. And they like it, because they choose the subject!

Hope you find this useful. Have a great day!!

Great idea for using your current project to inspire writing Laticia.

    Has anyone else tried this?

    best wishes, Julie.
