This is a list of children's homeschooling books - stories about homeschooled children (or at least children that don't go to school!). I haven't had a chance to read all of these and check how much they cover homeschooling, but I will try to review them as soon as I can.

Also check out my main page of reviews of fiction about homeschooling for children.

Fiction about Homeschooling

  • The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria von Trapp
  • Wild Thornberries by Mark Dubowski
  • Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild
  • No More School by Meg Harper
  • Secret of the Lost Colony by Rebecca Price Janney. Also Mystery at Loch Ness and Search for Amelia Earhart.
  • Surviving the Applewhites by Stephanie Tolan
  • Addie McCormick and the Computer Pirate by Leanne Lucas
  • Schooled by Gordan Korman - although this is apparently a terrible representation of a homeschooled misfit.
  • The Adventures of Lil'Wolf, Twinkie, Toes and FlowerGirl in the Homeschool Forest by Jacqueline Campos
  • Laddie by Gene Stratton Porter
  • The Treasure Seekers by Edith Nesbit
  • My Side of the Mountain by Jean Graighe George

  • Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
  • I am still working on this list of books about homeschooling - if you can recommend a great children's book to add to this list, I would love to hear from you.
